To expand on the children's interest in letter and letter recognition, this morning we added a variety of ladles, pots and alphabet letters to our water table. Without hesitation the children began making batches of alphabet soup!
M began picking up the alphabet letters one by one with her hands, placing them into a pot. She first found the letter A “I found the letter A, that’s in my name!” and then continued searching through the letters to discover Q and E “A’s baby name and E’s name”. L comes over to join the group and begins swishing through the water with her ladle singing the alphabet song, searching for her letter. A began mixing his letters into the pot with a whisk, taking small breaks in between to check the temperature of his soup with his finger. “I’m waiting for the water to finish boiling so I can begin making my soup”. Connor finds the letter O, he was proud to show his peers he found “O for my brother and O for C too!”
