Today we introduced the children to a new modeling media - CLAY! The educator demonstrated different techniques of rolling, flattening and manipulating the dough. “I'm making Koda!” LB said, holding up his finished creation of his dog, "Koda". The educator took that idea and rolled her clay to create her dog, Sadie, as a way to connect with the child and his idea. This sparked the idea to make representations of other family members and pets amongst the other children! RW, at first, was focused on “making Maroo!” his dog. “I'm making Maroo's tongue” “I'm making Maroo’s body.” Family members, especially pets, have been a topic of connection amongst the toddler children and we will continue to share this with each other in the program.
